چکیده
Corresponding author: Jana Ambrožič, Zaloška 7, 1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia, e-mail: [email protected] The MitraClip is the first percutaneous therapy for mitral regurgitation. It can be used in both etiologies: primary (degenerative) and secondary (functional) mitral regurgitation. The technique mimics surgical suture-based approach by implanting a clip that grasps free edges of both leaflets and creates dual mitral valve orifice. After Conformité Européenne (CE) mark in 2008, the MitraClip system is increasingly used in Europe for both types of mitral regurgitation. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) so far has approved the Mitraclip only for patients with severe primary mitral regurgitation who are at high surgical risk. The decision for the MitraClip therapy should be accepted within the heart team. Transesophageal echocardiography plays a key role in selection of the patients, procedural guidance and follow-up and is essential to the Mitraclip success. First Mitraclip implantation performed in Slovenia is presented.

Percutaneous mitral valve repair using the edge-to-edge technique: first Greek experience.
INTRODUCTION Mitral valve (MV) repair is the treatment of choice for degenerative mitral regurgitation (MR), but the surgical options for functional MR are limited. Percutaneous edge-to-edge MV repair using the MitraClip system has evolved as a new tool for the treatment of certain anatomical subsets of both functional and degenerative MR. We present the first Greek series of MV repair using th...
متن کاملPercutaneous approaches to valve repair for mitral regurgitation.
Percutaneous therapy has emerged as an option for treatment of mitral regurgitation for selected, predominantly high-risk patients. Most of the percutaneous approaches are modifications of existing surgical approaches. Catheter-based devices mimic these surgical approaches with less procedural risk, due to their less-invasive nature. Percutaneous annuloplasty can be achieved indirectly via the ...
متن کاملPercutaneous treatment of mitral regurgitation with MitraClip device
The percutaneous edge-to-edge repair of mitral regurgitation with a MitraClip device has been recently approved in Europe. The results of the randomized EVEREST II study showed a favourable safety profile of the technique. However, the efficacy in terms of regurgitation reduction in a population with predominantly degenerative mitral disease was inferior as compared to the results of convention...
متن کاملPercutaneous Treatment of Mitral and Tricuspid Regurgitation in Heart Failure
Heart failure has become a real epidemic condition related to poor outcomes despite advances in medical therapies. Prevalence of significant mitral and/or tricuspid regurgitation is high in patients with advanced heart failure. Novel transcatheter techniques have recently emerged as a minimally invasive alternative in patients deemed high-risk for surgery or inoperable. Among them, MitraClip® s...
متن کاملOne-year outcome of percutaneous mitral valve repair in patients with severe symptomatic mitral valve regurgitation
AIM To investigate one-year outcomes after percutaneous mitral valve repair with MitraClip® in patients with severe mitral regurgitation (MR). METHODS Our study investigated consecutive patients with symptomatic severe MR who underwent MitraClip® implantation at the University Hospital Bergmannsheil from 2012 to 2014. The primary study end-point was all-cause mortality. Secondary end-points wer...
